2023 · Facilitating bottom-up strategic sessions on supporting ICT company exports, jointly with QazInnovations and MDDIAI
ICT Export Support
'ICT Development' is an initiative to support the export of Kazakhstani information technology companies, organized by JSC 'NARI QazInnovations' together with the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry (MDDIAI). At its core is a 'bottom-up' strategic-session format: instead of ready-made solutions handed down from above, market participants themselves formulate the systemic problems and barriers to ICT exports.
The first session was held at Astana Hub with the participation of representatives from the public sector and quasi-state development institutions — Kaztrade, KazakhExport, AstanaHub, Techgarden, QazInnovations, QazPatent, 'Kazakhstan Engineering,' Kazakh Invest, KazAID — and ICT-sector companies with export potential. The second session took place in Almaty at the MOST HUB venue. At both sessions, the facilitator guided groups through identifying systemic problems and blocking factors, formulating concrete steps and an architecture of support measures: awareness, legislation, financial support, training, infrastructure, communications, GR, marketing, and sales support.
The sessions also produced consolidated information and a registry of ICT-sector development and support institutions, serving as a working tool for further dialogue between business and government. At the time this page was published, the initiative was still in progress — the collection of problems and proposals from the ICT community was ongoing.
